Program Assistant / Program Officer 1
The SC is looking to hire a Program Assistant or an entry-level Program Officer, depending on experience. The Solidarity Center program in Morocco offers a permanent contract position with a six-month probation period to work with the SC Senior Program Officer (SPO) and the SC Country Program Director (CPD) on programs at the Maghreb Representative Office under the supervision of the CPD and with guidance from Senior Program Officer of Morocco.
The position is based in Rabat but travel may be required throughout the country based on program needs. He/she is responsible for supporting the Solidarity Center in the management, implementation, logistics, and monitoring of project activities in accordance with the objectives set and the Centre's policies and procedures.
We are looking for a candidate that is passionate about worker rights, social justice, gender equity, aligning with the Solidarity Center’s mission to assist independent unions and labor/worker support organizations in Morocco; with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills that is looking to advance to a first level program officer position with the Solidarity Center.
Specific Responsibilities of the Program Assistant:
- Responsibilities of the Program Assistant include providing support to the Morocco office, as follow:
- Concept paper drafting, including original research
- Work plan development for new projects
- Planification and coordination of program activities with Solidarity Center partners
- Program event planning and activity implementation
- Logistical support for the organization of seminars, workshops and training (draft, send and follow-up on invitations, attendance sheet, reimbursement of travel expenses and per diem, monitor contract compliance of external consultants and ensure payment)
- Note-taking at meetings, activities and events
- Program activity reporting and follow-up with partners’ coordinators
- Maintain, file and archive (physically and electronically) project files and documents, in accordance with the Solidarity Center procedures
- Internal and external project evaluation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will have a degree in economics, political/social science, or related field; at least two years relevant experience and substantial knowledge of the labor movement and socio-economic environment in Morocco. In addition, the candidate must have experience working with both higher-level professionals and grassroots activists. The ability to multi-task and work as part of a team is desired. Ability to work on a flexible schedule. Fluency in Arabic and French; a command of written and spoken English is highly desired. The candidate must have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
