Phd in Harnessing soils and crop-roots microbiota for developing next-generation of plant biostimulants.
The root-associated microbiota are a key determinant of soil nutrient availability, plant biomass productivity and pollutant degradation, but could not be examined in depth prior to recent advances in OMICS technologies. Plant root-associated microbiota refer to the whole community of bacteria and fungi living on the surface and/or inside plant roots. This project aims to Harness soils and crop-roots microbiota for developing next-generation of plant biostimulants. Our hypothesis is that improved isolation techniques will allow to capture more taxonomically and functionally diverse groups of microorganisms when compared to traditional isolation approaches. This increased diversity will help to enhance the development of new bioinoculants.
