Job Purpose
With some autonomy, completes most types of assignments through the application of standard engineering theories, techniques, and practices. Incorporates relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry-standard practices for the control, development, and application of deliverables. May provide discipline supervision for one larger or one or smaller projects. Mentoring and coaching Associate Engineers. Fully proficient level with full knowledge of the principles and practices within a discipline. Work is subject to practices and procedures and may require periodic review with other teams or workgroups. Due to changing priorities or different situations encountered, the incumbent relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Main Scope/Responsibilities
- Business Development Support:
- Assists business development activities by maintaining an up to date personal profile and resume.
- Builds positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.
- May support proposals by developing the discipline execution strategy, estimating costs, writing proposal content, and presenting to customers.
- Business Operations:
- May support the business by communicating team resource loading and skill requirements to a direct supervisor.
- Ensures the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences.
- Mentors/trains Associate Engineers and supports the delivery of training.
- Facilitates coverage of activities to ensure a smooth handover (vacations, termination, absence).
- Encourages knowledge of and compliance with requirements and JESA internal processes.
- Works to resolve inter-discipline, vendor, and customer issues under supervision depending on the size of the project.
- Ensures discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
- Technical Competency:
- Able to collect input/data from administrations (representing departments, ABH, DMN, ...) for environmental impact assessment related to biophysics and socioeconomic fields.
- Able to analyze JESA's activities/projects and evaluate environmental impacts.
- Able to prepare environmental impact assessment report following a predefined framework.
- Mastery of environmental regulations and standards.
- Able to analyze the changes in environmental regulations and standards and identify the impact on JESA's projects and activities.
- Able to define corrective/preventive actions.
- Able to analyze the efficiency of corrective/preventive actions.
- Able to address claims/grievances from stakeholders/society (for example from neighborhood).
- Able to analyze the results (give some more details) and bring out the best scenarios by using specific software independently (ARCGIS, ADMS, etc.).
- Able to update the Environmental Management System inputs (documents, records, indicators, ...).
- Able to analyze environmental non-conformities, identify their causes, and define preventive and corrective actions to be undertaken.
- Able to identify and analyze the main Environmental Management System indicators.
- Able to design, build, and adapt report sections according to expected messages, choosing relevant templates and models.
- Leads the processes for checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
- Able to formulate key messages by adapting them to a specific context, objectives, and target.
Main Scope/Responsibilities (continued)
- Project Execution:
- With some autonomy, knows the discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
- Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.
- May support the management of project change and progressing for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability.
- Plans discipline quality, monitors quality activities, drives and participates in squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.
- Project Deliverables:
- Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares reports, regarding environmental assessment, regulations and standards, technical data, site's, and project's characteristics. Compare the technical alternatives and participate in the justification of the choice.
- Presents and defends the study in front of the committee monitoring of environmental measures.
- Verifies documentation incorporating all relevant information and elaborates on the next step. Reviews similar documentation to assist others
- Procurement Support:
- Incorporates information from multiple sources into technical propositions. Write the technical specifications.
- Leads bid clarifications, conducts bid evaluations.
- May review similar documentation to assist others.
- Site Support:
- Seeks input from knowledgeable sources participates in constructability.
- Provides environmental monitoring during the construction phase by working closely with the HSE's project manager and draws up reports.
- Works with site personnel to resolve issues from the office and site.
- Proposes environment measures that support construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, or decommissioning.
- Conducts the necessary site visit as part of assigned work.
Education
- Awarded a 4 or 5 year technical degree in science or engineering. Will be actively licensed with a local engineering governing body where required by law.
